The Blob is a recurring motif in much of my work. I created the first iteration after I broke my leg and found myself regularly curled into a ball. I was looking for an outlet to release all these pent up limitations, so I drew this abstract form that echoed my physical therapy routine. A year later, I moved to Argentina, and became very homesick. Again I felt like being curled up in an emotional ball. I drew an even simpler, more accessible version of the Blob, that has since become my signature character. Now, with hundreds of Blobs living in different parts of the world as screenprints and murals, I see them as reminders of change, growth, and visual pleasure.
